It's summer! (Isn't it?)

Well, it might not feel like it this morning, but after a bank holiday weekend of sunshine it certainly felt like it last night... I was at the Burbage Skyline fell race, a fantastic little race organised by Dark Peak Fell Runners. I'm still in recovery mode after Fellsman but had a better-than-expected run to finish 7th.

Kristen Jones and Stu Bond shot off and beat the field by a couple of minutes, with a rare second place for Stu. Behind that we were fairly evenly spaced, with a strong finish by Tom Sutherland who came flying past me on the run in to the finish. It was a cracking evening though, and the first evening race this year for me - hence it now feels like summer!

While I'm here, a couple of photos from the Bank Holiday... On Saturday night I took the dog for her first overnight expedition. We walked up onto Stanage Edge and set up the tent as the sun set, had some food and spent a cold and windy night up there, then set off early in the morning to walk home the long way, via Burbage, Higger Tor and Carl Wark, Fox House, Houndkirk Moor, down Porter Clough and through Fulwood.

The next day Mrs. W returned and we all headed off for our annual White Peak weekend, this time staying in the van at Knotlow Farm. A great little campsite with the added bonus of home-made Pizza available on site!
